Bought my jeeps winch from here (which coming from a die hard supporter of only high end products, is a great winch). The pricing was great and the staff were also super helpful and friendly. One of staff went through the differences of model numbers and knew alot about them. Definetly coming back here.
I work in retail and know the demands, I understand it is a stressful environment at times. I also know it is inevitable that mistakes will occur. However I also know there is always a solution to the problem.
Personally I love the store and have shopped Harbor Frieght for about 10 years. The staff and cashiers have always been very helpful. However today I witnessed an ugly exchange by one of your cashiers and the store manager that has me questioning the company.
When I went to my car I noticed the man in the parking lot so approached to tell him I am sorry. I just felt he needed to know others saw what occurred and felt bad for him. Crazy I am apologizing to this man for something that occurred in your store, by your associates. He said he left because it wasn't worth ruining his day. His words were inspiring and uplifting. I wouldn't have given up.
Finally the manager (mid fifties male) got frustrated when his cashier couldn't resolve and moved them to an open register. Unfortunately he had zero patience and made the situation even worse. He was not empathetic or concerned that his cashier made a mistake, he was treating the family like the problem. After just a minute of trying to figure out how to resolve he gave up and yelled at the man's family saying "You leave, you leave, you leave, " while pointing his finger at them. He yelled to the man I can't talk to all of you. It was unbelievable to say the least. I looked at everyone's reaction in the line and it was clear that everyone was shocked. Embarrassed the man gave up and left without getting his money back.
This place is amazing for tools. Do many tools and crazy low prices. The employees are super nice and helpful.
Great place to buy tools that you'll only use once. If you plan on using any of these things on the daily, or even the weekly, spend the extra couple of bucks before you have to buy your tools 15 times over. The lifetime warranty here is super spotty, and can come down to how the manager on duty feels or which one you get.
A man and his family of four were returning an item and purchasing other items. The line was very long so I was able to see the whole encounter unfold. The cashier made a mistake while doing the return and scanned the item being purchased. This created confusion about the amount and she couldn't fix. She then called the manager. The cashier was frustrated and speaking loudly (really yelling) enough to hear halfway across the store. The manager stood behind without jumping to calm the situation. The family was very quite and kept their cool even while the cashier was inappropriate. She continued to argue with man so everyone could hear.
Please teach this manager (and his team) some empathy.... It does make a difference. You have great products but how you treat your customers is more important.
Great prices and selection, friendly staff--but the checkout line can be very slow if there are more than a couple people in line.
